Bio

Paul Griffin headshot 20151013 for websitePaul went to Dartmouth College to major in Film Studies and English, with the hope he’d make a living writing books and screenplays. His first job after school was the job that had gotten him through school: dockworker. He was a dishwasher too (alongside Vin Diesel), a teacher and tutor, butler and bartender, driver and dog trainer, an EMT and amanuensis. (Look it up.  I know I had to.) The hardest and best work was the teaching. Paul started out with the Creative Arts Team, giving conflict resolution workshops aimed at stemming the spread of violence, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS in high schools, juvenile detention centers and alternative education centers throughout NYC. These days Paul works with awesome organizations like Behind The Book and Literacy For Incarcerated Teens, and his workshops focus on helping young men and women tell their life stories as they reach out to counselors, judges, admissions officers and potential employers.

Paul wrote several novels for young adults: Ten Mile River, The Orange Houses, Stay With Me, Burning Blue and Adrift. When Friendship Followed Me Home, a novel for middle grade readers, comes out in 2016.  Middle grade novel Marty comes out in 2017.  Paul lives in Manhattan with several maniac dogs and one very patient wife.
